The 2nd Meeting of the CEOs of National Hydrocarbon Companies of APPO Member Countries will be held on July 19, 2022 in Abuja, Nigeria.
The Secretary General of the APPO, Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim took the lead by visiting the NOCs during his missions or by calling them by telephone, to participate in this important meeting and to get directly involved in issues related to the hydrocarbon sector in particular the interesting topic of Energy Transition. On Friday, July 1, 2022, he visited the Director General of SNPC, Mr. Maixent Raoul Ominga and the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo accredited to Congo, H.E Christophe Mazungu, and the same subject on Energy Transition and the challenges it poses to the African oil sector were discussed.


The CEO of SNPC assured the Secretary General of his participation in person at this important meeting in Abuja.
SONAHYDROC, SNH of the DR Congo which had already confirmed its presence was warmly thanked by the SG of APPO through his Excellency, Ambassador Christophe Mazungu with whom the SG of the APPO evoked subjects on the Energy Transition, the way to follow for the African continent and what constituted as an opportunity the Energy Transition especially when the Wester Countries push the African countries to abandon the fossil fuels whereas these countries need them more than ever for their development.
The Abuja NOCs meeting will follow the first ever inaugural meeting held on May 16, 2022 in Luanda, Angola during the 8th edition of CAPE. It will be devoted to the modalities of conducting its work and on more in-depth discussions on the topics to be presented in this case the conclusions of the study made by the APPO on the future of the African oil industry in the light of the energy transition.
It should be recalled that in Luanda, the inaugural meeting was declared open by H.E. Dr. Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas of the Republic of Angola and President of APPO and chaired by Mr. Mele Kolo Kyari, GMD of NNPC of MC Nigeria.
The SNH meeting is in pursuit of the objectives of Chapter IV of the APPO Internal Regulations.
MISSIONS OF MEETING OF CEOS OF NATIONAL OIL COMPANIES
(1) The Meeting of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of National Oil Companies has the following missions:
a. to ensure commercial, technical and technological collaboration in the field of hydrocarbon resources amongst Member Countries;
b. to support the sharing of research and development studies to enhance hydrocarbon production;
c. to support data collection and collaboration among Member Countries;
d. to support wide-range of capacity building activities in the petroleum industry for Member Countries’ nationals;
e. to share market developments and impact of global and regional energy regulations and its implications on hydrocarbon production.
(2) The Chief Executive Officers of the National Oil Companies shall meet whenever necessary to deliberate on technical, financial and specific subjects with a view to preparing a report to be submitted to the Executive Board.
(3) The Chief Executive Officers of the National Oil Companies shall be convened to meetings by the Secretary General after authorization by the Executive Board.
