APPO AT EGYPES 2024
The 7th edition of the annual Egypt Energy Show, EGYPES, opened on Monday 19th February 2024, with a special opening ceremony presided by the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Abdel Fattah El Sisi under the theme: “Driving Energy Transition, Security and Decarbonization”.
On the invitation of H.E. Tarek El Milla, H.E. Dr Omar Farouk Ibrahim, SG of APPO led a delegation to EGYPES 2024.
Dr. Farouk was a panellist on the session “Securing Sustainable, Affordable Energy for All” at the conference during which APPO’s position on the global energy transition was highlighted.
The APPO SG further delivered a keynote address on the Importance of Fossil Fuels in Africa’s Just Energy Transition at the Africa Dialogue Conference, an initiative introduced by EGYPES in recognition of the importance that Africa in the global energy discourse. In the keynote, Dr Farouk gave an overview on Africa energy potentialities and emphasized the need for Africa to secure sufficient funds for the development and sustainability of the industry in Africa for energy security and socio-economic development.
On the side-line of EGYPES 2024, the 3rd OPEC-Africa Energy Dialogue was held.
