In the city of Cape Town where he is attending the Africa Energy Week 2021, the Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers Organization, Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim had an audience on November 10, 2021 by the South African Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, His Excellency Samson Gwede Mantashe, MP.

 

This meeting is part of the implementation of the Secretariat’s 2021 Work Program relating to courtesy visits to Ministers and Heads of Delegation of Member Countries undertaken by the Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers Organization, APPO, Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim who was accompanied by the Managing Director of the African Energy Investment Corporation (AEICorp), Zakaria Dosso.

The audience focused on the holding of the 41st Ordinary Session Council of Ministers in Algiers; the 1st Summit of Heads of State of APPO Member Countries and the subscription to the capital of the African Energy Investment Corporation (AEICorp) and many other subjects related to the activities of the APPO including the subject related to the energy transition for which a study is being finalized and which will be presented at the Ministerial Session in Algiers.

The Secretary General of the APPO thanked the Minister for his availability and especially congratulated him and also his country for all its support and commitment to the activities of the Secretariat. For him, South Africa is a country that has and plays an important role in the APPO.

It is therefore right that he invite the Minister to attend the next Ministerial session in Algiers and strongly encourages him to push South African citizens to be interested in the activities of the APPO by applying for vacancies in the APPO Secretariat. For him, the Organization is a common asset to all Member Countries and the contribution of South Africa or South African citizens in the Organization will be an added value.

The South African Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy reassured the Secretary General of the APPO of his participation in the Ministerial Session in Algiers on 14thDecember 2021.

Regarding the subscription of his country to the capital of AEICorp, he reassured the delegation of a rapid response in favor of this African institution that could offset the Western financial institutions in the implementation of the African policy on energy.It should be recalled that South Africa joined the African Oil Producers Organization in 2005.

Dans la ville de Cape Town où il participe à la Semaine Africaine de l’Énergie 2021, le Secrétaire Général de l’Organisation des Producteurs de Pétrole Africains, Dr Omar Farouk Ibrahim a été reçu en audience ce 10 novembre 2021 par le Ministre Sud-Africain des Ressources Minérales et de l’Énergie, Son Excellence Samson Gwede Mantashe, MP.

 

Cette rencontre se situe dans le cadre de la mise en œuvre du Programme de Travail 2021 du Secrétariat relative aux visites de courtoisie auprès des Ministres et Chefs de Délégation des Pays Membres entrepris par le Secrétaire Général de l’Organisation des Producteurs de Pétrole Africains, APPO, Dr Omar Farouk Ibrahim qui avait à ses côtés le Directeur Général de la Société Africaine d’Investissement en Énergie (AEICorp), Zakaria Dosso.

L’audience a porté essentiellement sur la tenue de la 41e Session Ordinaire du Conseil des Ministre d’Alger ; le 1er Sommet des Chefs d’Etats des Pays Membres de l’APPO et la souscription au capital de Société Africaine d’investissement en Énergie (AEICorp) et bien d’autres sujets liés aux activités de l’APPO dont le sujet lié à la transition énergétique dont une étude est en cours de finalisation qui sera présentée lors de la Session Ministérielle d’Alger.

Le Secrétaire Général de l’APPO a tenu à remercier le Ministre pour sa disponibilité et surtout le féliciter et aussi son pays pour tout son soutien et son engagement aux activités du Secrétariat. Pour lui, l’Afrique du Sud est un pays qui a et joue un rôle important au sein de l’APPO.

C’est donc à juste titre qu’il invite le Ministre à assister à la prochaine session Ministérielle d’Alger et l’encourage vivement à pousser les citoyens sud-africains à s’intéresser aux activités de l’APPO en postulant à des postes ouverts au Secrétariat de l’APPO. Pour lui, l’Organisation est un bien commun à tous les Pays Membres et l’apport de l’Afrique du Sud ou des citoyens Sud-Africains dans l’Organisation sera une valeur ajoutée.

Le Ministre Sud-Africains des Ressources Minérales et de l’Énergie a rassuré le Secrétaire Général de l’APPO de sa participation à la Session Ministérielle d’Alger, le 14 décembre 2021.

S’agissant de la souscription de son Pays au Capital de l’AEICorp, il a rassuré la délégation d’une réponse rapidement favorable à cette institution africaine qui pourra palier les institutions financières occidentales dans la mise en œuvre de la politique africaine sur les énergies.Il faut rappeler que l’Afrique du Sud a adhéré à l’Organisation des Producteurs de Pétrole Africains en 2005.
