After the Ambassador of Algeria, the SG of APPO H.E. Farid Ghezali was received, January 14, 2026 in audience in Brazzaville by the Consul of Benin in the Republic of Congo, Mr. Mamadou O. Younoussa. The Consul of Benin welcomed the progress made from APPA to APPO and welcomed the new Secretary General.
It was in the premises of the Consulate General of Benin in Brazzaville that the first official meeting was held between the new Secretary General of APPO and the Consul. In a warm atmosphere, Mr. Mamadou O. Younoussa welcomed this visit, which is a first since the return of APPO to Brazzaville after a relocation to Abuja (Federal Republic of Nigeria) as part of the Reform. Taking the floor, the APPO SG praised the exemplary participation of the Republic of Benin, a founding Member Country in APPO, indicating that the Secretariat is dedicated to achieving the objectives of the Organization, the most important of which is to ensure active cooperation between Member Countries. This, he said, will allow countries to develop thanks to their energy resources.
Mr. Younoussa said he was honored to receive the delegation of the APPO Secretariat. He gave a brief reminder of the path he has travelled, which he has witnessed firsthand, from the creation of APPA to APPO, as well as the various steps taken to set up the APPO headquarters in Brazzaville. He reiterated his congratulations to the SG on his appointment as head of the Secretariat. He did not fail to emphasize that he will report on the visit, not only to the authorities of Benin, but also to the Beninese community living in Congo. The Consul, who is accustomed, as his mission recommends, to take part in the various ceremonies organized by APPO, acknowledged receipt of the invitation given to him to participate in the work of the 4th Forum of Ambassadors and Heads of Missions of APPO Member Countries accredited to the Republic of Congo, scheduled to be held on January 27, 2026 in Brazzaville on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of APPO.
