H.E. Hopelong Uushona Ipinge, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Namibia to the Republic of Congo has just taken up his duties in Brazzaville. On Thursday, January 15, 2026, he received the Secretary General of APPO, H.E. Farid Ghezali. The two personalities addressed key issues related to the life of the organization, as well as the membership of the Republic of Namibia. The SG took the opportunity to request the Ambassador to convey a happy new year to all the people of Namibia, led by President H.E. Dr. Netumbo Ndemupelila Nandi-Ndaitwah.
H.E. Farid Ghezali said that energy is not a commodity like any other, but really a vector of the economic development of nations. To this end, from his point of view, APPO plays a pivotal role in the service of its Member Countries. He informed the Ambassador that the Secretariat is available to answer all questions relating to the energies of its Member Countries, including the Embassy. Stressing the mission of APPO to promote cooperation among African countries in the field of hydrocarbons, he noted that for Namibia, APPO represents an asset to benefit from the experience of Member Countries that are already oil producers. In this context, he concluded, the APPO Research & Development and Innovation Forum is an ideal framework to boost the oil sector of Namibia and other Member Countries.
The Ambassador, in response, indicated that his country would not fail to seize this opportunity to use APPO as a tool for cooperation with African countries. He thanked the SG for the visit and the formal transmission of the invitation to participate in the works of the 4th Forum of Ambassadors and Heads of Missions of APPO Member Countries accredited to the Republic of Congo, scheduled to be held on January 27, 2026 in Brazzaville on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of the APPO, confirming his presence at the same time.
